Good budget hotel with great staff but some structural issues
The staff is wonderful and we loved our room. Pool, though small, is nicely warm. It is a good deal for Waikiki. However, be aware that the elevators are very slow, the parking structure is hard to use (very steep ramps and tight turns), and they are being stricter about limiting pool time and housekeeping services than some other Waikiki properties. If you want a good room with friendly staff for a decent price and can deal with the challenges, this may be a good choice for you.
So much ALOHA!
(Pearl City, Hawaii)
Me & my Ohana stayed for the the 4th of July weekend! Upon arriving, check in was so fast & efficient. They accommodated us with rooms right across of each other. From the maintenance workers to front desk staff they all showed ALOHA! Super polite & professional! Mahalo for an awesome experience!
Very dark hotel
I must preface this review by saying I was at a separate hotel prior and wanted to stay somewhere less expensive the last night since the previous was paid for my business and this one was on me.
I did a lot of googling and looked at a lot of reviews before I made my decision to book with aqua palms. Seems like a pretty standard hotel.
to just stay there but the cancellation policy at aqua palms was 72 hours and I had only made the reservation less than 72 hours prior because this was a last minute trip. I understand cancellation policies and so I tried to work with them on it but ultimately decided to extend my stay one more night so that I could get use from the hotel since they were going to charge me $170 for canceling. Again, this is standard and this was my bad , as a hairdresser I know about last minute cancellations because you can’t get other people in last minute. My flight was free to change so it was really no problem. When I arrived it seemed that this hotel was more of in a semi industrial area or just surrounded by lots of other hotels and buildings. That’s no problem I can walk to where I need to get.
Upon entering, the place was so much darker than in the picture and I just thought OK maybe their lights are going out or something. Once I got to the elevator it didn’t have any buttons, OK not that big of a deal but kind of weird. I waited and made it up to my floor which was even darker than the lobby. I was traveling alone and so after being outdoors where it is so bright and cheery in Hawaii This just felt so out of place. And honestly creeped me out. I didn’t really want to be in there so I dropped off my things and left immediately to go explore, I asked some gentleman who worked there if they knew where the pool was and they said that they thought there was a pool but they weren’t sure where it was. I checked several floors and couldn’t find it but ultimately stopped caring and left to the beach.
It was probably about a 15 minute walk to get to any water which was fine. I went back to the hotel as late as possible so that I only had to sleep there.
I took a shower and realized soon after I got in that there was no liner in the shower so it flooded the bathroom. They also gave me a DVD card to rent from the box downstairs but there was no DVD player.
Overall, I wouldn’t stay here alone again or possibly at all. They charged me an amenity fee the next day but for what? And the cancellation fee seemed too strict after all.
great loacation ,,quiet atmosphere..centralized in the Ala Moana area where it suits my needs in regards to each visit to Honolulu.. The staff is very accomadating, have great communication skills .The rooms are clean and very relaxing through out my stay.
Looking forward staying at Aqua Palms in the near future if there’s a room available for me! I will be traveling a lot and I am happy there is a place like Aqua Palms please keep up the great Work hotel employees thank you very much!!!
