This hotel has been renovated since our last stay. Maintenance could be an issue as carpets are already grubby and the wooden furniture is chipped. Rooms are spacious and all have a large balcony. Be sure to take a room with an ocean view, above the 7th floor. Rooms have a kitchen with full fridge, microwave, large oven and hot plates and a lounge area. The hotel is very popular with family groups. Breakfast isn’t included, however there is a restaurant, cafe and small store with gifts and basic grocery items site. The Hilton Hotel next door offers other options. The hotel charges an additional resort fee of $25/day. It doesn’t include anything that you wouldn’t expect from a hotel other than free hire of dvds. There is a coin operated laundry on each floor. A bus stop outside the hotel appears to service a number of local tourist operators.
Best Accommodations in Waikiki
Beautiful hotel, great location, amazing "studio-apartment" type rooms, and a friendly staff...no place better than the Ilikai for an Oahu trip. Near the Hawaiian Village therefore has agreat view of the Fireworks on Friday. Cinnamon's has the best pancakes too! Try and eat a 4 stack, I dare you!
Disabled guest harassed in pool by residents
As a Disabled guest I was harassed in pool by a resident. This resident is well known for harassing guests, including children on vacation who should be making wonderful memories, “enforcing” rules regarding where people should or should not be that simply do not exist. This resident clearly needs a private pool with no other users. This couples behavior is well known to everyone at the pool yet somehow is tolerated by management. After a particularly upsetting exchange and being physically run into in the water by her husband who “does not look up while doing laps”. I was rudely told to move from a space where I had been peacefully floating near the wheelchair lift that was not designated for lap swimming at that time of day. I brought the matter to management who seemed to care sincerely. Sadly, his effort to speak to these residents regarding their behavior in the pool, which is shared by visitors and residents, only heightened the harassment. I was assured a safe last visit to the pool on the final day of my stay. Instead, this resident was allowed back. She spent her time staring at me with daggers in her eyes, spoke with other residents in multiple sessions causing groups of people to stare at me at a time, and created a hostile environment for myself and my traveling companion. It was an egregious and painful experience as even physically getting to the pool was a struggle. Further,I was physically harassed and my personal space violated while in my wheelchair outside the pool. As well meaning the manager was he teed up a targeted attack and allowed an unsafe and despicable targeting of a person who is disabled. May God have mercy on this woman should she lose her mobility one day. After many years of visiting this property I do not expect to return. Visitors: be aware that some residents are unkind and do not share common facilities with courtesy or aloha.
Beware when online... apartments maybe photoshopped to improve appearance

12 nights booked here.... not by any means first time to Waikiki, first to Ilikai. We fortunately able to book early checkin, apt 1336 .. which was great considering 0600 arrival at HNL. First impression... a bit dated! Kitchen was well equipped and bathroom was adequate. Locale great. Our view was over lagoon, so we had a great view of fireworks. I will admit I found the bright lights from the Hilton a night, a bit much.. closing blinds minimal effect. I think I would prefer marina view next time. Our bedroom (twin) and lounge area a different matter. I found the covering sheet on my bed had been stained/marked, which wasn’t immediately noticed as covered by decorative cloth. Our fake timber flooring had been repaired however it was very obvious and our lounge (was sofa lounge) was rather disgusting. It was badly marked and stained, it truly needed a good clean. We simply didn’t like to sit on it. Probably worse was the aircon. There were instructions not to go below 72f. Sorry, but that is a bit too warm to sleep thru! It was one of those noisy old style, at floor level. Totally ineffective and most definitely needs replacing. We noticed during the period other apartments better appointed, so this experience wouldn’t put us off staying here again. We just need to find out when renovated, hopefully we will pick better next time. I couldn’t recommend 1336 in its present state.
I booked three days for a rest stop on my flight to LAX n receive and use to the 24th floor

The staff our helpful, the suites clean and tastefully decorated. I had a kitchenette it was very niat and decked out with all dishes and utensils.Te view was spectacular and the walk to the lagoon for a swim was only 400 metres. I was very happy with my stay as it was 10 years ago that I first stayed at the illikai hotel.
